Happy, Wretched and Terrified in Liminal
Shazza is a Singaporean singer-songwriter whose music moves between intimacy and power, tracing the chaos of growing up with candour and wit. Her sophomore album Happy, Wretched & Terrified became the starting point for this collaboration with Soof.
A clock frozen at midnight sits beside an hourglass in motion, holding the tension of time suspended and time passing. Across the design, symbols drawn from the songs appear: a vintage perfume bottle, crossed swords and shield, a dumbbell tied with ribbon, wedding doves, a burning birthday cake, wired earphones curling into a heart. In one corner, a crossword quietly spells the words happy, wretched, terrified.
The composition brings together memory, conflict, and tenderness. It does not illustrate the album literally but gathers its fragments into a pattern of signs. When worn, the scarf becomes a reflection of Shazza’s music- emotional, contradictory, and deeply human.
