Tjanting in Rua

Tjanting in Rua is built with the same tool-led logic as the series: wax-like lines that thin, pool, and repeat with measured rhythm. Its structure is botanical and precise—upright florals in specimen-like spacing, framed by scalloped bands and garland repeats that echo the hand of the tjanting.
The central panel catalogues lilies, carnations, ranunculus, and snowdrops, supported by smaller sprigs that stabilise the composition. Each motif is drawn vertically to respect drape direction, making the scarf read cleanly when worn.
The Rua palette: a cream parchment ground gives clarity and lightness. Florals appear in earthy ochres, rust, muted rose, and warm clay, paired with olive greens and ivory accents. Sage and shell-pink infills in the border lift the piece with freshness, making it feel archival yet luminous.
On chiffon, lines remain sharp against the cream base. On modal, colours diffuse into a parchment wash, softening into a vintage textile feel. Rua is the lighter twin—botanical, airy, and enduring in its restraint.
